Mooring and Anchoring
We are performing mooring and anchoring analysis in which the environmental forces, wind/wave and
current are applied to the vessel and its mooring/anchoring lines.
The vessel can be either anchored at sea, moored at quay, connected to another vessel side by side or by
stern.
Such analysis allows the determination of line tensions, vessel motions and allowable environments.
Calculations methodology is adapted and varies in line with the problem and project requirements:
- Static: The environment is constant, the vessel is not moving
- Quasi dynamic: The environment is dynamic, the vessel is moving, the cable dynamic is not taken in account
- Dynamic: Environment, vessel dynamic and cable dynamics are all dependant
Strength analysis is performed considering the Ultimate Limit State which concentrates on the maximum
in terms of environment, tension and motions.
Fatigue analysis allows the determination of the mooring lines fatigue submitted to operational
environments associated to a fatigue life cycle called Fatigue Limit State.
